I asked my friend,

“How do you write about a place?” because I spent a year trying to do so and didn’t know how to sit with the words once they all collected in this book.

I think places hold our memories. They feel like sprites when you walk by a second time; but, I don’t know how to tuck mine in next to yours, or how to respect the past, self-hood and their endurance.

My best solution is to find the forgiveness that comes from temporal relationships. Today, I give these words, and tomorrow, I’m a mumble in a chatty bar.
